Primary Care Providers

Providers’ role

Participating providers and practices will be expected to:

  • Submit a pre-application with complete information to initiate onsite visits
  • Complete, sign and return the provider service agreement
  • Develop a practice EHR implementation team with a minimum of three members
  • Provide HITArkansas access to this team via scheduled on-site visits and/or conference calls
  • Provide HITArkansas access to practice staff members, facility and existing software/hardware to evaluate current workflow and delivery system design
  • Work with HITArkansas staff to develop a reasonable timeline for the transition to EHRs and commit to adhering to that timeline
  • Work with selected EHR vendor and vendor project manager, trainer(s), and customer support (IT), with HITArkansas staff serving as liaison to facilitate the transition/implementation process
  • Attend training conducted by HITArkansas quality specialists to understand/learn about change concepts (PDSA) and continuous quality improvement (CQI) in an effort to ensure sustainability
  • If required, participate in periodic evaluation surveys of HITArkansas staff
  • Commit to pursuing maximum EHR functionality and incorporating meaningful use criteria

What we offer providers

HITArkansas will customize its services for each individual practice based on environmental circumstances, practice needs and preferences, software/hardware capabilities, and system vendor commitments and capabilities. Our objective is to manage the project from start-up through post-transition. For all participating practices, we will:

  • Assist staff with processing changes to the EHR system
  • Assist with achievement of meaningful use of the EHR system, which is required to receive financial incentives
  • Provide support for practice and workflow redesign
  • Provide post-installation training specific to helping achieve meaningful use if needed
  • Provide optional ongoing support to ensure the practice receives the maximum reimbursement/incentive payments for which they are eligible
  • Facilitate validation of provider as a meaningful user
  • Provide post-installation access to a HITArkansas EHR professional to work on opportunities unique to the EHR environment
  • Provide access to a library of training aids, tools and best practices, including tips on how to use the EHR to its full potential to improve patient care and maximize revenue
  • Provide a newsletter for participants
  • Facilitate user groups
