In order to help critical access hospitals (CAHs), rural hospitals and the providers associated with them achieve meaningful use and qualify for federal incentive payments, HITArkansas has been awarded a supplemental grant to provide resources, assistance, and ongoing support. Click here for map of qualifying CAHs and rural hospitals.
This will include assistance with workflow evaluation and the development of quality improvement activities to improve the quality of patient care as well as to report quality parameters to obtain meaningful use. HITArkansas will also assess CAHs, rural hospitals and their providers to identify HIT skill levels, readiness and the need for technology training to facilitate rapid EHR adoption that meets all of the requirements of the ONC. Specific goals include:
- Point-of-care patient bar coding system which monitors maximum daily dose, high-risk medical warning, clinical action reminders, near-miss reporting and order reconciliations
- Physician order entry systems targeting the reduction of medication errors, reduction of adverse drug reactions, promotion of patient safety and promotion of best practices through evidence-based medicine
- Overseeing the pre-workflow analysis, overseeing the installation of the EHR and validation of meaningful use
HITArkansas will also be providing consultative services for all Hospitals under a seperate pricing structure. Please contact us for pricing parameters specific to your organization.
Why transition now?
The combination of federal incentives and low-cost assistance with implementation make this the ideal time for CAHs, rural hospitals and the providers associated with them to adopt or upgrade to a certified EHR system.
